Welcome to the Neo-Foundry!

In a world filled with disposable products and temporary licenses I find myself being attracted more and more to the things that have stayed with me and stood the test of time and with so much of our lives taking place in a digital world these days from our shopping to our socialising, our working and our recreation my appreciation of actual physical things has grown immensely. I’ve found that doesn’t mean cars and buildings or objects designed to portray wealth and success but things that remind me of what’s truly important; the relationships with those who have meant the most to me over the years and the memories that I’ve been lucky enough to share with them.

As a young man I’d often wear jewellery of some form or another, there was a style of surfer necklace that I could pull off much better back then and I went through a few thumb rings. Some of these I bought myself and some were gifted to me and recently, whilst going through some old things, I came across some of them and spent a nostalgic afternoon remembering carefree summers and student shenanigans somehow so much more vividly whilst holding just little pieces of metal that I’d carried with me throughout and seemed to have become a part of the person I was then that will never be accidentally deleted or wither over time.

I realised then that I’d love to be able to create objects that I hoped people could pour their lives into to enjoy in the way that I had to help spread a bit of joy which is why all of this is here. The Neo-Foundry is the name of my workshop, wherever that tends to be (the garage and conservatory more than anything of late) and this site chronicles my progress and experiences as a craftsman – I hope you enjoy.
